@risK artisan gallery is one of the most interesting places on Soledad Street is the @risK artisan gallery, within the Soledad St Marketplace at 19 Soledad St., across the street from the CSUMB Community Learning Center. Internationally famed artist David Ligare ‘named’ our studio/exhibition space in 2008, calling it “@risK” not because the contributing artists were ‘at risk’, but because the art itself was – on the edge of acceptance, appreciation – it was even considered by some to be dangerous.
@risK functions as both a studio space, encouraging residents of Chinatown to express themselves artistically, and as an exhibition space developing income and recognition of their talents through art sales. Artists realize 75% of each sale and 25% of sales sustain the gallery itself. Currently, @risk artisan gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. www.facebook.com/aTrisKgallery
